Ken Dobberpuhl, owner and trainer
Born in Oakland, CA. and raised in Whittier, CA I spent my youth participating in a variety of athletic experiences from Little League to high school varsity Cross Country, Wrestling and Track. I was also active in Boy Scouts (Eagle Scout) and served as a student body officer in high school.
I attended Oregon State University, B.S. in Science Education (Biology) and lettered in Rugby. After college I spent three years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany and became semi-fluent in the German language. I also competed in Power Lifting during this time.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge, I attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR where I received my M.A.T. and my first teaching job in Klamath Falls, OR. I taught Jr. High and High School Biology for 9 years, coaching Varsity Volleyball and assistant Track Coach. I left education and became a manufacturers’ representative (17 years) and taught part-time at Los Medanos Jr. College in Pittsburg, CA (10 years, Volleyball & Triathlon).
I have been active in Masters sports since 1980 including three Hawaiian Ironman finishes, competitive cycling (USCF), road and trail running events, Ride & Tie, masters swimming, and martial arts.
I’m certified with NSCA & NASM as a Certified Personal Trainer and hold a certificate as a Golf Biomechanic and Triathlon Academy Coach. My wife Judy and I live in Concord with our dogs “Fizzgig” and “Nalu” and enjoy traveling, music (guitar), skiing/boarding, surfing in our “spare time.”
Philosophy: I want my clients to achieve their goals through conscious lifestyle choices and appropriate exercise programs that have a high degree carryover in both their daily activities and recreational sports.
